How to perform

  1. 01

    Lie on your back on the floor with your knees bent and your feet firmly planted on the ground, extending your arms straight overhead to the floor.

  2. 02

    Brace your core and keep your lower back under control before lifting.

  3. 03

    Lift your upper body into a full seated position by squeezing your abdominal muscles, keeping your arms overhead throughout the movement.

  4. 04

    Lower yourself back to the floor under control one vertebra at a time, returning your arms overhead to the starting position.

Keep your ribcage down and your pelvis in a neutral position to prevent the movement from turning into lower back hyperextension. Lower yourself more slowly than you rise, and maintain core tension throughout the entire repetition.
