Lever Decline Chest Press

The lever decline chest press places a strong emphasis on the chest and reduces stress on the front of the shoulders compared with the flat bench press when your shoulder blades remain in position.

How to perform

§ 02 · Steps
  1. 01

    Sit in the lever decline chest press machine with your back and head firmly against the backrest and your feet planted securely on the floor or the machine's footrests.

  2. 02

    Grip the handles, pull your shoulder blades back and down, keep your chest up, and brace your core.

  3. 03

    Lower the handles under control toward your lower chest until you feel a stretch in your chest without letting your shoulders roll forward.

  4. 04

    Press the handles forward and downward back to the starting position, and squeeze your chest hard at the end without locking out your elbows.

  5. 05

    Return the weight under control and keep your shoulder blades back and down throughout the entire set.

Keep your wrists neutral and your elbows about 30–60 degrees from your sides to keep the movement focused on your chest. Do not let your shoulder blades lift off the backrest; keep them pulled together throughout each repetition.
