Stand tall with the dumbbells at your sides and a slight bend in your elbows.

Raise your arms out to the sides until they reach shoulder height.

Lower them halfway while keeping tension in your shoulders.

Immediately raise them back to shoulder height.

Finally, lower them all the way down under control. This is 1.5 reps.

You should feel it in the side of your shoulders. It should not be felt mostly in your neck or arms.
A common mistake is using too much weight and swinging the dumbbells up. Go lighter, keep your shoulders down and lead with your elbows.

Tips
§ 05 · TipsUse a light weight. Keep your shoulders down and lead with your elbows, not your hands.
If you feel pinching in your shoulder, keep your arms slightly forward in the scapular plane (about 20–30 degrees forward).
