Stand with your feet hip-width apart, lightly brace your core, and keep your back in a neutral position.

Hold the dumbbells at your sides with a slight bend in your elbows and your shoulders down and back.

Raise the dumbbells out to the sides in a controlled motion until they reach shoulder height, keeping your elbows slightly higher than your wrists and your wrists neutral.

Pause at the top for a brief squeeze without using momentum and without letting your shoulders rise toward your ears.

Lower the dumbbells slowly back to the starting position and repeat.

You should feel it in your side delts. It should not be driven by your lower back or mostly felt in your upper traps.
A common mistake is swinging the weights up. Use a lighter weight and lift with control while keeping your shoulders down.

Tips
§ 05 · TipsKeep the lifting path out to the sides and slightly forward, and do not swing from your hips or use momentum. Choose a weight that allows you to control the full range of motion and keep your shoulders down.
This exercise isolates the middle deltoids and helps build shoulder width.
