How to perform

§ 02 · Steps
  1. 01

Sit on a bench and position the landmine bar in front of one shoulder at an angle to the vertical, with the end of the bar held securely in front of your chest.

  2. 02

Grip the end of the bar with one hand and keep your wrist neutral, your elbow down and slightly in front of your torso.

  3. 03

Brace your core and keep your shoulder blade lightly pulled back without overextending your lower back.

  4. 04

Press the bar up and forward along a curved path until your elbow is fully extended under control and your shoulder is fully engaged.

  5. 05

Lower the bar back to the starting position under control and keep the movement pain-free throughout the entire range of motion.

What it works

Builds shoulder strength and pressing power. It helps with overhead lifts, pushing movements, and everyday lifting.

What it should feel like

You should feel it in your shoulders, mainly the front delt, with some triceps. It should not be felt in your lower back or neck.

Most common mistake

A common mistake is arching the lower back and lifting the chest too much. Brace your core and press the bar up and slightly forward.

Tips

§ 05 · Tips

Keep your elbow slightly in front of your torso and avoid letting your upper arm drift out to the side. Think about pressing the bar up and slightly forward, and keep your core braced so your chest does not lift upward.

The Landmine Seated Shoulder Press loads the shoulder through a more joint-friendly angled pressing path than a straight overhead press.
