  2. 02

Brace your core, draw your elbows lightly into your sides, and keep them stationary throughout the movement.

  3. 03

Curl the bar up by flexing your elbows and squeeze your biceps at the top without letting your elbows move forward.

  4. 04

Lower the bar under control until your arms are nearly straight, and feel the stretch in your biceps before the next repetition.

What it works

Builds the biceps and elbow flexion strength. That carries over to pulling exercises and everyday lifting.

What it should feel like

You should feel it in your biceps, with some work in the forearms. It should not be felt in your lower back or shoulders.

Most common mistake

A common mistake is swinging the bar and using your back for momentum. Keep your torso still, elbows by your sides, and control every rep.

Tips

§ 05 · Tips

Do not swing the bar or use your back to generate momentum, keep your upper body still and produce the movement only at the elbows. The angled grip of the EZ bar reduces strain on your wrists, so keep your wrists neutral throughout the entire set.

The EZ bar's angled grip positions your wrists at a more natural angle than a straight bar and reduces wrist strain.
