How to perform

§ 02 · Steps
  1. 01

Kneel on the floor and place two dumbbells in front of you at shoulder width, with the handles horizontal and the dumbbells firmly in place.

  2. 02

Grip the dumbbells and brace your core with a neutral spine, keeping your pelvis slightly tilted backward.

  3. 03

Slowly roll the dumbbells forward, extending your hips and shoulders under control until you feel a strong stretch through your abs without letting your lower back arch.

  4. 04

Pull the dumbbells back toward your knees by forcefully contracting your abs, and return to the starting position under control.

What it works

This move builds your abs and overall core stability. A strong core supports heavier lifts and makes everyday movement more stable.

What it should feel like

You should feel it in your abs and core. You should not feel pressure in your lower back or your shoulders hanging.

Most common mistake

The most common mistake is rolling too far and letting your lower back arch. Keep your ribs down, squeeze your glutes, and shorten the range if needed.

Tips

§ 05 · Tips

Keep your ribs down and your glutes engaged throughout the entire rep to prevent your lower back from overextending. Shorten the range of motion if you can no longer maintain core bracing or your shoulders begin to sag.

This exercise places a high load on the abs through a long range of motion and requires good lumbar spine control.
