Dumbbell Lying Woodchop
This exercise targets the abdominal muscles, especially by challenging rotational movement and control of hyperextension while lying down.

Lie on your back on the floor with your knees bent and your feet firmly on the ground. Hold one dumbbell with both hands directly above your chest with your arms straight.

Lower the dumbbell in a controlled motion to the side of your body and slightly above your head, allowing your thoracic spine to rotate slightly, and brace your core throughout the movement.

Pull the dumbbell in a curved path diagonally across your body toward the opposite hip, and squeeze your abs hard at the end without letting your lower back lift off the floor.

Return the dumbbell along the same path to the starting position and complete all repetitions. Then switch sides.

Tips
§ 04 · TipsKeep your ribs down and your lower back in contact with the floor at all times. Don't let the weight pull your chest into excessive extension. Move the dumbbell slowly and allow your thoracic spine to rotate, but keep your hips as still as possible.
