Dumbbell Lateral to Front Raise

This movement combines a lateral raise and a front raise in the same set to train the deltoids from multiple angles.

How to perform

  1. 01

    Stand tall with a dumbbell in each hand at your sides, feet hip-width apart, and brace your core.

  2. 02

    Raise the dumbbells out to your sides to shoulder height with a slight bend in your elbows, keeping your shoulders down and your shoulder blades gently pulled back and down.

  3. 03

    Lower the dumbbells under control back to your sides.

  4. 04

    Raise the dumbbells in front of you to shoulder height with your palms facing down or in a neutral grip, pause briefly, and squeeze your deltoids.

  5. 05

    Lower the dumbbells under control and repeat by alternating a lateral raise and a front raise.

Keep the movement strict without swinging, and avoid bending at the hips to lift the weight. Keep your wrists straight, and stop the raise if your upper traps start doing too much of the work.
