Position yourself on the machine with your back and glutes firmly against the pad and your feet shoulder-width apart on the footplate.

Place the balls of your feet on the edge of the footplate so your heels hang off freely, and keep your knees nearly straight but not locked.

Brace your core and drive your heels upward by contracting your calves, then hold the squeeze briefly.

Lower your heels under control into a full stretch and repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

You should feel it in your calves, especially at the top squeeze and bottom stretch. You should not feel it in your knees.
A common mistake is bending the knees or using a short range of motion. Keep a slight knee bend and move through the full range with control.

Tips
§ 05 · TipsAvoid locking your knees, keep a slight bend to protect your joints and keep the focus on your calves. Drive through the balls of your feet and slow down the lowering phase to achieve a maximal stretch.
