Cable twisting overhead press

This movement combines an overhead shoulder press with trunk rotation, dynamically loading the shoulder against the cable's constant resistance.

How to perform

§ 02 · Steps
  1. 01

    Stand sideways to the cable station and adjust the cable pulley to chest height.

  2. 02

    Grip the single handle with the hand closest to the cable and raise it in front of your shoulder with your elbow bent. Brace your core and keep your chest up.

  3. 03

    Rotate your upper body away from the cable while pressing the handle overhead toward lockout without arching your lower back.

  4. 04

    Briefly squeeze at the top and allow your shoulder blade to rotate upward naturally.

  5. 05

    Lower the handle under control back in front of your shoulder and return to the starting rotation before the next repetition.

Keep your hips as still as possible and rotate through your thoracic spine so the press does not turn into a lower back extension. Choose a load that allows you to press straight overhead without letting your elbow drift behind you.
