How to perform

§ 02 · Steps
  1. 01

Attach a V-bar to the high cable and stand or kneel beside the cable so the line of pull comes from above and to the side of your body.

  2. 02

Grip the V-bar with a neutral grip and brace your core. Keep your chest up and your shoulder blades down.

  3. 03

Pull the handle down in an arc toward the same-side of your torso. Initiate the movement by depressing your shoulder blade, then drive your elbow down and slightly back.

  4. 04

Pause at the bottom and squeeze your back without rotating or leaning your torso.

  5. 05

Slowly return the handle to the starting position and allow your shoulder blade to rise only at the end while maintaining tension in your back.

Tips

§ 04 · Tips

Keep your hips and chest still and avoid rotating your torso so the pull stays focused on your back. Think about driving your elbow down rather than pulling the handle with your hands.
