Lie on the decline bench with your head at the lower end and your feet securely locked into the bench supports.

Grip the bar with a slightly wider-than-shoulder-width overhand grip and ensure a secure grip before unracking.

Pull your shoulder blades back and down, brace your core, and maintain the natural arch in your lower back.

Lower the bar under control toward your lower chest, keeping your elbows at about a 45-degree angle to your torso.

Press the bar back up under control until your arms are straight, and squeeze your chest muscles at the top.

You should feel it in your chest, especially the lower chest, with some work in the triceps. It should not be felt mainly in the shoulders or lower back.
A common mistake is flaring the elbows or lifting the hips. Keep your elbows around 45 degrees and brace your core throughout.
